We all have bad days from time to time, periods of low productivity, and some dissatisfaction with our jobs. This is normal. However, when it seems like the bad days outnumber the good ones, or you just can’t get out of the slump you’re in, that’s when there may be a real problem you need to face head-on.

When You’re Stuck in a Rut at Work
If you feel like you’ve lost your motivation at work or become disengaged from the tasks you’re responsible for, chances are you’re in a rut. This can be a problem for not just you, but your employer and co-workers, too. Losing interest in your job can lead to lower productivity and more errors. It can also be detrimental to your own mental health.

At Labor Solutions, we encourage you to look for healthy, realistic ways to address a situation like this. The first step is an honest self-evaluation. Think about when things started to feel less fulfilling at work, and try to identify a triggering event. Consider factors outside of the workplace, too, and how they may be affecting your moods and work performance.

Schedule a little extra time away from work if possible. A long weekend could be just what’s needed to help clear your head and give you a fresh perspective on things. If there is an important decision or other type of issue you’ve been avoiding that’s causing you stress, spend some of this alone time hashing things out with yourself to try to get some resolution.

Don’t try to do everything at once, either. Even if you aren’t able to take time off of work, cut yourself some slack by slowing down intentionally and focusing on one task at a time, without the distractions of frequently checking your phone or email.

When All Else Fails…
Finally, if you’ve tried to give yourself a much-needed boost and still find yourself stuck in the doldrums whenever you go into work, then maybe you need to look for a new job. Give Labor Solutions a call, or stop by our office to see how we can help you get into a gig that is more to your liking.
