Lots of people got a taste of what it’s like to work from home this year, and many of them decided that they like it. This could drastically alter the way businesses view their workplaces from this point forward. There are a lot of advantages to working remotely – no commutes, more casual dress codes, and greater schedule flexibility are just a few. But what about social interaction? Labor Solutions recognizes the need for some human contact beyond taking care of the kids or pets, and oftentimes going to work satisfies that need. Well, we have an idea for putting a little mix and mingle into your remote workspace – hold a virtual Christmas party!
Holidays Done Digitally
A virtual holiday party could be just the thing needed to provide employees with a little bit of cheerful socialization while maintaining appropriate distancing. We at Labor Solutions recognize the sacrifices our employees and workers have made this year dealing with COVID-19, and we think an online party is a great way to have everyone get together safely to celebrate each other’s struggles and triumphs of the past year.
If this sounds like a fun idea for your company, here are a few tips to help make your digital shin-dig the best:
- Decide “where” to hold your celebration. There are plenty of video conference platforms to choose from, including Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, and FaceTime. Pick one that your company has used before, to make it easier for everyone to get into the “venue.”
- Designate a dress code. Your employees working at home have probably been in casual mode for months now. This could be a fun reason to dress up, or hold a traditional “ugly Christmas sweater” contest!
- Send invitations. Whether you send invites via email or postal delivery, make them special! Don’t just tack an announcement onto the end of a general email, create something special and fun to spark some enthusiasm.
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
No matter what holidays you celebrate at this time of year, or if you don’t celebrate at all, Labor Solutions sends you our warmest wishes for a peaceful and pleasant conclusion to a historically difficult year and a bright and prosperous new year.
