  • Lean on those who care about you. Don’t discount the value of the emotional support of your family and friends during stressful times. It may be tempting to withdraw and hide your career problems from those around you to create a façade of satisfied success, but this can often serve to isolate and frustrate you further. It’s okay to struggle, to make mistakes, and to suffer misfortune. These things happen to all of us. Reach out to your loved ones and let them know what you are experiencing. Even if they can’t help you reach your career goals, they can help remind you of what is going right in your life. 
  • Consult a professional. Therapy is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, many of us can benefit in some way from speaking to a professional counselor. Getting the input of an impartial, specially trained third party can help clarify situations and elucidate areas of concern or confusion.
