There are unscrupulous people out there waiting to prey on those who are desperate for work – don’t become their victim!

A lot of people have discovered the joys of working from home over the past year and a half, and are now reluctant to return to a traditional workplace. Labor Solutions has received countless inquiries for work-from-home positions this year. While there are definitely more opportunities now for these types of flexible positions, it’s important to recognize the difference between legitimate opportunities and unethical scams.

Don’t Get Scammed!
The first rule of thumb when it comes to evaluating work-from-home job offers is to trust your gut. If something feels “off,” don’t hesitate to decline the offer. Scammers tend to be very adaptive, always finding new ways to appeal to the vulnerable, so your instinct can be a helpful guide when you can’t quite pinpoint what seems wrong with a job offer.

Watch out for recruiters who are overly pushy or require that you respond and accept immediately. Labor Solutions, along with other reputable businesses, will never try to coerce you into accepting a position, no matter how important it is to us that we fill it. If the recruiter doesn’t seem interested in verifying your references or work experience, they probably are not a real recruiter.

Never give out your personal financial information early in an interview process. Be cautious with your other personal details as well, such as your home address and social security number. Though this information is often required by legitimate employers, these details can be invaluable to scammers.

Always research a company online. If their website is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, that’s a bad sign. Pay attention to the recruiter’s email address. Is it a personal email address (such as a Gmail address)? Does it look like a company email address, but just slightly different from the company name? Real recruiters will contact you from their company’s actual email accounts.

Finally, ask yourself this: Is this offer too good to be true? Almost every time, if the answer to that question is “yes,” then it’s a scam.
