This National Working Parents Day, Labor Solutions salutes all the parents working through the pandemic.

September 16 is National Working Parents Day, and here at Labor Solutions, we understand that many of our valued workers are also parents. We want to take a moment to commend them for all that they do, both at work and at home. Being a working parent isn’t easy, and trying to balance work life with family life can be challenging at times. We don’t have all the answers for the working parent, but we’d like to offer a few tips to help those who may be struggling with time management.

The Work-Life Balance
More parents are working from home these days, and while this is in many ways a blessing, it’s not without its own challenges. One thing that can help you get your days more organized is stating or writing out your priorities. Putting things into words can help you better understand your own reasoning behind the goals you’re working toward.

Being a working parent carries a lot of responsibility, and at Labor Solutions, we understand how overwhelming that can feel sometimes. Reach out for help when you need it. Talk to your partner, friends, or other family members about what is causing you stress and see if there is anyone who can help relieve some of the burden. Having a friend cook dinner for your kids a couple of nights a week, or a family member do a couple of loads of laundry for you every week could make a big difference in your stress level.

Kids running around all day making you crazy? Tire them out early! Start the day off with some physically demanding activities for the kids, like fitness videos, or playing tag outside, to let them burn off that energy. Use screen time judiciously by allowing them certain times to goof off online while you get some work done.

Give Yourself Some Credit
The past year and a half has caused many families to make some huge adjustments to how they operate. From social distancing to homeschooling, working from home, and all the other changes we’ve had to make, the working parents are true heroes who are holding our families and society together so we can get through this pandemic thrive once more. From all of us at Labor Solutions, thank you to all the parents out there who have sacrificed, adjusted, and persevered to keep moving forward.
