All of us at Labor Solutions simply love this time of year. Spending time with family and friends and enjoying delicious meals together are the special moments that we cherish. Thanksgiving in particular is a beautiful reminder to express gratitude for all that we have in our lives, and we believe this feeling should extend into the workplace as well.

Being Thankful at Work
In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of research done that indicates how important gratitude is for a healthy life and mind. Research has also found that the workplace is the area in which people are the least likely to express gratitude. At Labor Solutions, we’d like to see that change.

The problem with the lack of gratitude expressed in the workplace is that it contributes heavily to workers feeling unappreciated and undervalued on the job. This can easily lead to less effort, lower productivity, and poor overall morale.

It can seem challenging to make gratitude a priority in the workplace, it’s really not difficult. Don’t try to force employees to show their gratitude, as that could be counterproductive. Instead, lead by example.

Celebrate successes, both large and small. Let people know that you see their hard work! Recognize when employees go above and beyond what’s expected of them. Encourage workers to practice mindfulness with simple breathing exercises or meditation breaks.

If you want to go a bit further, you can distribute gratitude journals for employees to use, and spread information on the benefits of gratitude. A 30-day gratitude challenge can be a fun way to encourage everyone to pay attention to the things they are thankful for on a daily basis.

We Thank You
We at Labor Solutions always strive to practice what we preach, and we are grateful every day for all of our fantastic clients and workers that help our team succeed. Thank you for all that you do!
